A retaining wall’s primary purpose is to hold back earth typically in hilly neighbourhoods, although it is possible the earth was placed intentionally as part of an original landscape design. A retaining wall will add a lot of visual interest, and can separate one area of the back or front yard from the other. Some retaining walls can also be used as garden beds, depending on their design.
Retaining walls are typically built with precast concrete blocks that come in many shapes and styles, however natural stone blocks are also used.
